Kelpinor Joins the Association for Vertical Farming

May 8, 2025

We’re excited to share that Kelpinor has officially joined the Association for Vertical Farming (AVF) - an internationally active nonprofit organization of individuals, companies, research institutions and universities focusing on leading and advancing the sustainable growth and development of the vertical farming movement.

This partnership aligns directly with our mission: to help vertical farmers grow more resilient, higher-quality crops while reducing input costs and energy demands. At Kelpinor, we believe that true sustainability in controlled environment agriculture (CEA) begins with inputs that support plant health naturally - without intensifying reliance on synthetic fertilizers or high lighting levels.

Our entry into AVF reinforces our commitment to delivering kelp-based biostimulants that work in harmony with each farm’s system, enabling measurable improvements in:

  • Yield and crop uniformity
  • Resistance to environmental stress
  • Resource efficiency in water, lighting, and nutrients

As vertical farming scales up globally, the need for cost-effective, regenerative solutions has never been greater—and we're here to help lead that transition.

We’re also proud to announce that Hannah Hoven, Market developer at Kelpinor, will be speaking at the upcoming AVF Summit 2025, powered by VertiFarm, in Munich.

Her talk, titled:

“From Stress to Success: Kelp-Based Biostimulants in Action”

...will highlight how the extreme environments where wild kelp grows have inspired our product development. Hannah will present findings from both laboratory and commercial trials showing how our biostimulants help vertical farms:

  • Boost yields under suboptimal lighting conditions
  • Improve plant vitality and recovery
  • Lower operational costs through more efficient input use

Whether you're focused on scaling or fine-tuning your vertical farm, this talk will offer a new perspective on how natural resilience can be engineered into your system.
